Medicare Wage Index

Wage Index is one of the numerous factors which affect a Provider's overall IPPS, OPPS, Psych, Rehab, and capital payment payment.  The Wage Index allows Medicare to adjust payments to reflect area differences in labor cost while also maintaining consistency for Providers in various Core-Based Statistical Areas (CBSA).
